Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day -July Superstars

High summer and July has been a hot, humid month with above average rainfall.    The garden is prolific with blooms from many colorful perennials.  Here are the super stars of summer :


Rosy Returns Daylily

Gooseneck Loosestrife

 Peppermint twist Phlox

Rudbekia, of course
and Limelight hydrangea near the fence


Bee Balm


My 2 favorite annuals :  Dianthus and Coleus

Rose of Sharon -one month early

    I have Rosy Returns daylily too. I planted it last year to join yellow Happy Returns. When In Buffalo last week we went to Lockwood's Greenhouses and I saw red Stephanie Returns. I'll have to check and see if there is a whole Returns family. I love virtual returns to your garden!

    Thank heavens for air conditioning Carolyn! This has been one. hot. summer, and it's only just begun. I'm grateful for the copious rainfall - we could use more about now here in the south 'burbs.

    Your July blooms are lovely! I love the shot of the rudbeckia - your garden is beautiful despite the heat.

    These plants are really superstars this time of year, Even my knockout roses are struggling to look decent with the insects and heat.

    Your garden blooms are on schedule with many of ours down here. I guess many other states have been experiencing south-like hot and humid.

    It's been the most difficult summer that I can remember. I finally had to force myself outdoors (other than the swimming pool) the last three days to work in the garden. My cottage pinks were literally toasted brown. I dug out 80% and am trying to save some plugs to continue it. On the other hand, if it can't handle the heat...get it out of my garden! :-)

    Your garden seems to be enjoying this heat, Carolyn. I love the photo of the Rudbeckias with the grasses. Although I have some superstars thriving, too, we could definitely use some more rain.
