One of the best parts about visiting North Carolina was getting to meet the garden bloggers there. Most everyone in the garden blogging world knows Helen Yoest of Gardening With Confidence, Freda Cameron of Defining Your Home and Garden and Anna Flowergardengirl and I was delighted to meet them all .
After a nice get together over lunch, Freda was kind enough to give me a guided tour of Duke Gardens .
Here's my wonderful guide Freda.
And these are some of the great things I saw : Azaleas and Camellias in bloom, some Magnolia Grandiflora that were at least 70 feet tall and gorgeous heavily-berried hollies. The Duke gardens were lovely.
My warmest thanks to Helen, Freda and Anna for their kind hospitality which I will always be grateful for. So nice to meet all of you on my visit to your great State.

That sounds like an idyllic day! I visited a couple of Octobers ago, and particularly enjoyed the grasses, the callicarpas and watching the plein air painters capturing it all!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn,
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed Duke Gardens, it is one of my places I like to visit nearby. Last year I did several posts about the camellias there. To think when you are in Chicago and winter is hitting you as hard as it can, we can be at Duke Gardens enjoying the Camellias and hellebores in bloom.
Hi Cyndy,
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed an idylic day. Sorry I missed the plein air painters and wish I could've been one.
Hey Randy,
ReplyDeleteDon't rub it in :-) Chicago winters are brutal indeed and its all I can do to keep my sanity during them. Thanks for visiting. As James Taylor sings " I'm in Carolina in my mind. "
It is still nice today! Glad you had a good time. Thought you were going to photoshop me to look better! Ha! At least you didn't use the cleavage shot from lunch! LOL
