53 IN DECEMBER

First Snowfall
by Moi

Most people reading my post title would automatically think " Oh, she's turning 53 in December." I wish ! Only gardeners would know I'm talking about the temperature.

Gearing up for winter I've been painting snow scenes but haven't seen the real stuff yet. Taking advantage of the mild temps I've also got my Christmas tree lights up outside.

I still have dianthus in bloom. Flowers in the snow, a little red peaking out. Might make a good subject for my snow series, one of which is above.

I must be careful what I wish for as they say. The difference is I know I'm gonna get it. Sooner rather than later.

A FOOT OF SNOW

Collage of January 10 Snowfall

Although not a record snowfall we had a foot of snow over the weekend. Lots of fun digging out. Two remnants of summer past, the birdhouse and sun, are distant memories of warm weather.

We are having the 2nd snowiest season on record and I'm sure there's more to come. Meanwhile this week we get an artic blast from the northpole. Gee, thanks, Santa.

The older I get the more tempted I am to move South. I am not gonna questions the Almighty's reasoning when he created winter but I do wonder about it sometimes. I love Chicago but I don't love it from December to March.
