GARDEN BLOGGERS' MUSE DAY

One month closer to Spring

Probably more pests can be controlled in an armchair in front of a February fire with a garden notebook and a seed catalog than can ever be knocked out in hand-to-hand combat in the garden.

  1. Hi Carolyn - what a great quote, especially as armchair gardening's to the fore at the moment.

My muse has turned to a pictorial poem with a watery theme this month - I hope you like it

  4. Not sure if more pests can be controlled from inside, but I sure like the idea of trying and at least I can't see them from inside:)

  6. Good morning Carolyn.
I like your February musing. It's right up my alley, warm fire and seed catalogs in February. Just posted mine.

  7. How rude of me Carolyn - I forgot to comment on your muse and do apologise. I think that Nelly Turner hit the nail right on the head as far as February gardening activities are concerned. I do like the thought of hand-to-hand combat in the garden - it conjures up all sorts of weird and wonderful images.

  9. I have to remind myself that we are one month closer to spring - the snow is deep, deep, deep on our fields. But the catalog inspired visions are full of color and glory. My MDP is up too - www.commonweeder.blogspot.com

  13. My Muse Day posting is up. Just a day late, though. Your quote is appropriate this month considering how many gardeners are snowed in right now.

  14. Love the quote--sounds like something you would say, Carolyn. My muse has been missing in action in recent months but I do plan to start participating in GBMD again soon.

  17. Hi Carolyn, I've been 'mute' for 'muse' day...sorry:)
I like the quote, and she is probably right in her statement. If we plan better and learn more about what we're planting in the environment we live in, things will probably work in a balanced way!
I will post late, or just wait until March.

Can I copy your Muse Day button and add it to my blog? I noticed it on ShadyG's blog.

  19. Your quote reminds me of something I read in Little House in the Ozarks (it's a collection of Laura Ingalls Wilders newspaper columns, which she wrote before she wrote the Little House books) - where she talks about how her favorite winter activity is to sit by the fire and plan her garden.
