WHAT I DID ON SPRING BREAK

Spring in a Vase by Moi

The Wind that Shakes the Barley

There's music in my heart
all day
I hear it late and early
It comes from fields far away
The wind that shakes the barley.

Above the uplands drenched with dew
The sky hangs soft and pearly
An emerald world is listening to
The wind that shakes the barley

Above the bluest mountain crest
the lark is singing rarely
It rocks the singer into rest
The wind that shakes the barley

Oh still through summers and through springs
it calls me late and early.
Come home, come home, come home, it sings,
The wind that shakes the barley.

St. Paddy's Day in Chicago tied a record for the warmest March 17 in 115 years -74 degrees was recorded at O'Hare Airport but in the back 40 at Sweet Garden Chicago it was 76 .

Anyone in their right mind played hooky and I think quite a few Chicagoans did as I observed many in shorts and tee shirts soaking up the abundant sunshine. Of course a lot of them were also celebrating St. Paddy's Day by imbibing in a little Irish spirits.

Lea and I marked her four month birthday by taking a long stroll during which we encountered a lot of moms pushing carriages. Is there another baby boom going on ?

The warm Spring day also saw a lot of gardeners out cleaning up the remains of winter. I stopped by to help the young folks at the corner condo building who weren't sure which of the dead plants should be removed.

After enjoying our traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner we sat out in the Pergola until dark. We enjoyed every minute of this magnificent day because we know that tomorrow will be in the 30's.

  4. I spent the day cleaning my garage. It isn't usually so early that I get a gorgeous day to get out and clean. The rest of the yard is pure mud from the snow melt (or snow) so I didn't even feel like I was taking any time away from anything else that needed to get done.

  5. Actually, there is a baby boom - I just read it in the paper. Although they don't know how long it's going to last because of the recession.

  6. I'M late getting here Carolyn, what with work projects driving me a bit batty, but I love the happy painting. And am envious of the mild temperatures (especially since we had yet another snowstorm today...)

  7. Wasn't it grand Carolyn - definitely best weather-day so far this month, and with the forcast for the next few days, probably will remain so. I'm glad you got out and enjoyed it!

Your beautiful painting is the perfect embodiment of the joyful spirit of spring.
