Rudbekia Hirta 'autumn colors '
Guess what followed me home from the garden center today? The 2003 Fleuroselect quality award gloriosa daisy 'autumn colors ' grows to 2 ' only, and has such beautiful colors with blossoms 5" across . It blooms from July to frost . Of course I just had to have one. Or two. Maybe two in each flower bed.
I was suspicious that it was listed as a perennial when I found it in the annual department. " Half-hardy " came the answer to my question, " but it seeds itself rather well even if it doesn't come back next year. " Alright then !
I'm a sucker for self sowing flowers.
I grew up with these in northern Maine and they are still a favorite. I simply love Gloriosa daisies! They look splendid with your sedum.
ReplyDeleteI saw a similar looking plant at the IGC Show and I wonder if this was it. The nursery using it in a display didn't have a name--but it looked really close to this.
ReplyDeleteNice colors.
I can certainly see why she followed you home. I could drown in her brown eyes.~~Dee
ReplyDeleteHi Tina. I don't know how I missed them before now . It's the first time the garden center has carried them.
ReplyDeleteHi MBT. I'm surprised that our garden center hasn't carried these until now. I think they'll sell themselves.
ReplyDeleteHi Dee,
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been over to visit your garden much recently. It seems the summer has just flown by.
Thanks for stopping by. I do love those beautiful brown eyes.
