White Christmas

I woke up to a beautiful white blanket of snow that had silently fell during the night. This is our first sizable snow accumulation of about 2 inches. I grabbed my camera and walked about in the garden to record it. You can see in the collage above that the goldfish are hibernating at the bottom of the pond.

I'm putting out the suet for the birds and there's plenty of water for them. I saw a pesky squirrel snatch one of the cakes so I had to wire the container together.

How lovely the newly fallen snow looks on evergreens and the bare limbs of trees, as well as the ornamental grass and sedum.

I'm so happy that I finished my Christmas shopping early so that I can enjoy the little things that give me joy at Christmas .

  1. Looks very nice Carolyn. Good job with the winter interest. About the only thing to look at in my garden now is the scaffolding the dryvit crew left behind and will pick up next week.

  4. I need to put out my suet as well. The downies are probably hungry.

    Have a wonderful holiday!

  5. Aren't we lucky? There are so, so many little things to enjoy at ths time of year, despite my mutterings and sputterings about the weather. I'm in drifting mode now, and have been for the past couple of days, as all things that need doing before the big day are done!

  6. Merry Christmas Carolyn! I'm so glad I got to meet you too. I'm just sorry we didn't have more time to talk that day. Entertaining a bunch of garden bloggers in your garden is a lot of work, and you did it so well. Hope your Christmas was happy, and 2010 is a successful year.~~Dee
