Garden Bloggers' Muse Day

"Farewell, thy destiny is done,

Thy ebbing sands we tell,

Blended and set with centuries gone -

Thou dying year, farewell.

Gifts from thy hand - Spring's joyous leaves,

And Summer's breathing flowers,

Autumn's bright fruit and bursting sheaves -

These blessings have been ours.

They pass with thee and now they seem

Like gifts from fairy spells

Or like some sweet remembered dream -

We bid those gifts farewell."

- Mrs. Jones, Thou Dying Year, Farewell

  3. Hi Carolyn,
I've never heard of the poem you've posted, but love it. So many poems, so little time.

I've tried my hand again with verse,
Before they get me in a hearse.

Happy Garden Muse Day. :0) David/ Tropical Texana

  5. Happy New Year Carolyn ~ although as Mrs Jones talks of farewells happily we will soon be saying hellos again. My January poem albeit a bit late is up now. I hope that the new year treats you, your loved ones and garden most kindly :)

  6. Hey Carolyn,
Glad you had an April day. I love days like that when we get them, even here in Texas.
I've posted a second poem, this one by Robert Frost on the subject of leaves. Thanks so much for hosting. :0)
    Happy Garden Bloggers Muse Day.
