I'M GUESSING Y'ALL DID'NT MISS ME?

Been down with the epatoozies which is why I didn't blog this week.  The epatoozies, in case you don't know, is what we Southerners  call something that's ailing us but we don't know what it is.  We also have a country song titled " How can I miss you if you won't go away?"

I heard on the news that the South was hit hard by a winter storm that dumped 8 inches of snow on Alabama, George, Tennessee and the Carolinas.  You know they can't deal with that.  Everything shuts down.

Meanwhile I'm thinking that 32 degrees is a virtual heatwave so I venture outside for a stroll, which I hadn't done in a while because its been frigid.

Guess what I found?  Christmas isn't over yet.  Here's the evidence.

Maybe the inside Christmas trees have been put away, but not the outside ones.

And if you ever have a dead tree, don't throw it away.  Look at how nice these look :

These orange/yellow trees are quite dead and were planted in a bucket of cement then buried in the ground.  They are being used to draw attention to the vacant lot for sale.   Brilliant marketing, eh ?  I know a gardener that sprays all her dead trees a bright blue and they look quite stunning .

  1. Everything in Georgia from 50 miles north of us shut down because of ice and snow. We got rain. It is cold. (30s F) I noticed that stepping behind a big camellia bush on the way back from the mailbox was like stepping into a warm place when the wind couldn't hit me. We can't abide much of this extreme weather; supposed to be hard freezes later in the week.

    Hope you are feeling better.

  2. I heard about the snowstorm down south. It's rushing up to the Northeast now. We are bracing for our 2nd storm this season.

  4. Hey Nell Jean,

Saw on the news about Georgia and the bad storm that hit you , Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, etc. I know what a crisis that can create, especially with the ice storms. I'm sure it'll be gone in a few days.

Oh boy I know you don't need anymore snow after that last one but it' gonna happen anyway. Hope that they handle this one better.

  6. Aw, thanks, Eileen. I would've loved to visit my friends in Florida because that's probably the only warm place down South right now.

I am feeling better but am already tired of this winter.
